MATH 2413

This page gives descriptions of projects for students in 2413.

1. Water Bottle Rocket
Kathryn Sisson, Kevin Guthrie, Laurence Lindsey, Mashruba Tasneem
Very nice apparatus. Unable to collect data (too fast). Derived some equations; validity is uncertain.

2. Magnetic Train Oscillator
Nahn Dinh, Vishal Patel
Constructed train with side walls (not completely levitating). Modeled with constant friction.

3. Tacoma Narrows Bridge; Lab 4.3

3a. Spring rubber band system, Lab 2.4
Jeremy Corbett, Jeremy Miller
Constructed system. Modeled spring without rubber band. No quantitative analysis of error.

4. Lorenz Water Wheel
Michael Abraham, Elise Beisecker, Stephen Hsu, Isaac Webster
Constructed wheel that apparently produced desired behavior; unable to derive equation.

5. Spinning cylinder of liquid
Jennifer Lee, Justin Melvin, Joshua Cuneo, Narendhra Seshadri

6. Draining Container
Steven Lansel, Brandon Luders Torricelli's Law
Excellent project in almost all respects.

7. Catenoids

8. Pressure in a Soap Bubble

9. Lab 1.4 (growing mold) This could be done at home or in the lab.
Saad Khan
Insufficient moisture for mold to grow.

10. Hanging Slinky
Paul Pearlman, Patryk Prus
Obtained energy. Led astray by symbolic manipulation software. A good start.
